We’ve been very much enjoying the various Kale varieties coming into the shop recently: the Flower Sprouts, Cavolo Nero shoots etc, and this week there will be bags of Russian Kale in all the boxes. This is a slightly more tender leaf ands takes little preparation and cooking. As with all the brassica family, keep contact with water to a minimum – rinse them of course but then ideally just steam or stir-fry.
Here are next weeks box lists (all being well)
D’s will get a further 800g potatoes and a Cucumber
E’s will get the Cucumber and 500g Sweet Potatoes
L’s and M’s will get the above additions and 600g Leeks
Q’s will also get 600g Conference Pears
We have said it before (but it is always worth repeating) this time of year can be a little tricky with regard to quality of veg. With the (slightly) warmer weather Onions and potatoes are starting to try to be plants while stored roots etc can start to show signs of decay. Please bear with us and be sure to let us know if there is an issue with any item in your box. We offer a “no quibble” guarantee to credit any deteriorating produce – we really need to know so don’t hesitate.
Don’t forget too that if you decide you have had too much beetroot or too many avocados you are very welcome to put a Special Request on your order banning those or any other items from your box. We will find something of equal value to replace it. We can’t guarantee to swap things INTO your box, though – ie we can’t promise to always swap out your carrots and always replace them with sweet potatoes for example simply because values may not be similar and the alternative may not be available.
But if you wish to always receive an item, a head of broccoli, say, we can establish an If Not In Box type Standing Order for you.
