Matt at Sheffield Organic Growers is providing bunches of beetroot for the boxes this week as well as plenty of beans, courgettes and cucumbers for the shop… and look, English Blueberries in the Q boxes – it must be summer…

Don’t forget if you are planning a trip away do let us now when – no-one wants to come back to boxes of mouldering vegetables on their doorstep.
Also, talking holidays, take your Beanies logo bag away with you and snap yourself with it in some Summer holiday situation - whether it be on a beach in Bali or in a paddling pool in Penistone – your picture will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a vegetable or fruit box. There are still one or two lines To Be Confirmed in the boxes as this is published – final decisions may well wait until Tuesday, but here are the lists so far:

A

  • Potatoes 1kg
  • Carrot 500g
  • Onions 500g
  • CauliflowerCauliflowers from Yorkshire  id=
  • Pepper
  • A Bag of Chard
  • Beetroot

B’s will have a Fennel bulb in place of the potatoes
D’s will get a further 800g Potatoes and a Bunch of RadishesRadishes  id=
G’s – We’re not sure yet what G boxes will get in place of the Spanish peppers but rest assured it’ll be something nice!
E’s will get both Fennel and a Bunch of Radishes
L’s and M’s will have these additions and A N Other Vegetable as yet to be confirmed.

K

  • Apples - Fuji 600g Fuji  id=
  • Bananas 600g
  • Oranges 600g
  • A portion of Flat peaches
  • A Lime

Q’s will also receive a punnet of English Blueberries

Fuji apples are in the  boxes this week - this variety originated in Japan from a cross between Rall's Janet and Red Delicious.  They are a sweeter variety with good keeping qualities.  Ours of course are coming from South America as do many of our organic apples at this time of year.
