We’re delighted to be able to include some locally grown apples in the fruit boxes this week. These are Adam’s Pearmain and come from Sheffield Organic Growers. Adam's Pearmain - from Hugh at Sheffield Organic Growers  id=
And the squash portion will be Crown Prince - we appreciate that it is not ideal that we have to cut these large squash into portions in order for them to be affordable for the boxes but we feel it's importat to offer them while they are available.  the keeping longevity is obviously shortened so pop them in the fridge where they can sit for a good few days while you are deeciding what to do with them.The Crown Prince of squashes  id=

The Seaweed Kale that appears in the D boxes is ideal for making Kale Crisps which are a delicious way of getting greenery into children… and adults of course!

  • Just break the kale off the woody stems and into bite-sized pieces. (Keep the stems for making stock or soup.)
  • Place the kale in a large bowl and add a little oil, a generous pinch of salt and a pinch of sugar.
  • Toss the kale around to make sure all the leaves are coated then spread it out into a layer in a roasting pan or ovenproof dish.
  • Place in a preheated oven (Gas Mark 7, 220C) for about 5 minutes, checking after 3 minutes and giving them a little toss around to ensure even toasting.
  • When the leaves are deep green remove from the oven and allow them to cool and crisp up.

Potatoes 1kg – probably Rudolf, a general purpose variety
Onions 500g
Carrots 500g
Squash
Leeks 600g
Red Cabbage
Parsnips
Garlic

B’s will get either a bunch of Rainbow Radishes (on Tuesday/Wednesday) or a Kohl Rabi (on Thursday/Friday)
D’s will get an additional 800g Potatoes and a bag of Seaweed Kale Frondy seaweed Kale  id=(Tuesday/Wednesday) or Rainbow Chard (Thursday/Friday)
E’s will get either the Radishes or the Kohl Rabi and also a Red Pepper
L’s and M’s will get those additions and a Cauliflower
