Saker Foods in Todmorden, Lancashire have been supplying bread, crumbles and savouries to Beanies for many years, but Karl at Saker has recently decided that for personal reasons he will not be able to supply bread to his customers in Sheffield. Bearing this in mind we have decided to aim to produce Cat Lane bread on a Monday and Cath has been coming down to the bakery for the past few weeks to train in the artisan craft of Cat Lane bread-making! Yesterday she spent the day at Cat Lane on her own and today therefore sees her first solo batch of bread in the shop.
Last week Becky and I were interviewing bakers to come and join the team so all being well Cat Lane bread will soon be available fresh every day (except Sundays.)
So far we have only been able to offer confectionery in a rather sporadic way, with extra staff we should be able to improve the regularity of supply and broaden the range on offer. This week there are Vegan Fruit Cakes for sale from Tuesday as well as Date and Apricot Crumble Slices.
Don't forget that Cat Lane bread is now available from Molly's Café on Norfolk Row and from Crumbs Cake Shop on Abbey Lane, Woodseats, as well as Down To Earth, Zeds, In a Nutshell and Airy Fairy. From September, New Roots on Glossop Road is also planning to stock the bread. If you would like to buy your Cat Lane bread from a shop other than these existing outlets let me know where through the contact form and I'll follow up your suggestion....
