Job Title

Probationary Co-operative Member: fresh produce and deliveries, leading to co-op member.


Minimum 32 hours per week (over four days), up to 40 hours (5 days) with shift pattern to be agreed. This will include early starts and one Saturday day per fortnight. As we are all equally responsible for the business, some degree of flexibility is essential. Extra hours are likely to be available.


£10.50 per hour during trial period. This position has a probationary period of 6 months, after which time membership of the co-operative will be offered if appropriate.

All co-op members are paid £11.50 per hour.

Beanies is a registered workers’ co-operative based in Sheffield which was established in 1986. We specialise in organic foods and we are a Soil Association registered retailer.  We also sell a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan foods, fair-trade products, toiletries and household goods, as well as non-organic fresh produce.

We run a busy shop which is open seven days a week. We also operate an organic box scheme in Sheffield and surrounding areas which currently serves over 600 customers. We work closely with local growers and suppliers to ensure the best produce with the lowest carbon footprint possible.

About you

You should care deeply about food and food production. Experience and interest in growing, fresh produce, stock control and/or small business operations would be an advantage.

You will be responsible for packing veg and fruit boxes for our organic delivery scheme. You should be methodical, with good attention to detail, and willing to do work that is physical and repetitive to a consistently high standard.

This role will include one veg box delivery round and one purchasing shift (early start) at the Sheffield Wholesale Markets. You will work independently and a full clean driving license is essential.
